New Year, New Goals

TEEN VIEW

By: Bailey Messner

January is the start of the new year, and with the new year often brings new year’s resolutions. Some people like to make resolutions, others do not, and some people like to create new goals at different points during the year. But if you have some new goals in mind or want to challenge yourself to try something new, then we have a couple of businesses to help push you out of your comfort zone.

If in the new year you are looking to experience something calm and relaxing, you might want to take a trip to The Salt and Serenity Grotto. The Salt Grotto offers massages, yoga, and salt cave sessions. In these sessions you are able to unwind in one of their two salt caves, which are surrounded by four tons of Himalayan salts. After your time in the caves, you can pick up tropical themed gifts and salts in their shop.

Sometimes you need a fresh start in the new year and changing your look can help you feel differently. A hair change can give you a new perspective on your appearance. Our handful of salons are perfect if you are looking for a new haircut, or even a new hair color. Clow9 Hair Studio, Cutters Hair Studio and Spa, House of Hair, Salon Fringe, Helms Old Fashion Barber, and Rhimix Salon and Spa are all incredible salons that would be happy to help you create your new image.

New hobbies also play an important part in new year's resolutions. Whether it be that you want to read more books, or to be outside more (despite our winter weather), our hobbies are important to us. If you are hoping to work on your flexibility or balance this year, then yoga could be your new favorite hobby. Flex Yoga Studio has both private and group lessons available at different times throughout the day, and even some virtual classes.

But if you want to try something like running or biking, then you are certain to find the equipment you need at Vertical Runner or Ride On. Ride On will match you with a bike to fit the needs of your new hobby, or even repair old bikes if you are not new to the sport. They even will let you take your new bike for a test drive downtown to make sure it is the perfect fit.

Vertical Runner also takes the time to make sure your shoes will fit the type of activity you are doing. Whether it be running track, or casual walks around your neighborhood, their employees are dedicated to making sure you have comfortable shoes to move in.

No matter what way you choose to start your new year, we hope that downtown can be a part of it. As a town we hope to always be changing and growing, while still staying connected to our roots, and as individual people we hope for the same thing. So, if you’re looking for change in the new year, then we hope that these businesses can help you try something new.
